Role overview

You are an experienced accountant who specializes in payroll. You can effortlessly transform Payroll and Benefit reports into the Journal Entries required by Head Office Finance. Your work will not involve running a bimonthly payroll. You will be positive in the FIT SIT and SUI requirements for onboarding and moving employees across the 50 States. You are not a Subject Matter Expert in all jurisdictions but you are an expert in sourcing the answers with the right tools. You can manage a budget for external payroll advice to maximize return on investment.

You will expand beyond the oversight and accounting of payroll and benefits. You will also oversee the accounts payable process for all Head Office suppliers and ensure payments and funding are made promptly. Where the head office funds payroll or benefits for other group entities you will design and implement applicable recharges.

You are willing to take on challenges and areas where you are not an expert working quickly to find pragmatic and compliant solutions. You show innovation and improvement by building efficiency into the annual compliance process. You will be reporting to the Head Of Tax.

Please note: Our strong preference for this role is candidate needs to be located on the East Coast of the US ensuring they have substantial overlap with both the US West Coast and London.

As a US Finance and Payroll Directorat Next15 you will:

  • Oversee Payroll and Benefits accounting at head office and ensure appropriate recharges across a Large US Group
  • Oversee US Accounts Payable ensuring Suppliers Plans and Payroll are paid and funded
  • Help develop and implement Head Office procedures (related to Payroll Benefits and accounting) to ensure compliance with Federal State and Local laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with HR Finance Tax and Legal to ensure seamless administration of payroll benefits and AP
  • Take full ownership of external relationships with payroll providers benefit providers and other ad hoc service providers of the US Head Office
  • Oversee a small but powerful Payroll Team of Six providing guidance and training on complex issues that arise. These may include payrolling of incentives terminations benefits leaves of absence Employee vs Contractor analysis Convenience of the employer analysis and retirement plan support.

You will bring:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
  • 6 years of experience managing US payroll operations that span across 20 legal entities
  • Experience with debits and credits and the ability to convert payroll and benefit information into Journal Entries on both the P&L and B/S
  • Indepth knowledge of payroll regulations compliance requirements and best practices across multiple States.
  • Great leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a highperforming team.
  • Great acuity and problemsolving proficiency.
  • A US CPA License (good to have)
  • Professional certification in payroll (good to have)
