Head Guide - Safari Lodge

Duties & Responsibilities:

• • Guided Safaris:
    • Conduct guided safaris for lodge guests, ensuring an exceptional and memorable experience.
    • Share in-depth knowledge of local flora and fauna, providing insightful information during game drives and walks.
    • Coordinate safari itineraries and adapt plans based on guest preferences and wildlife sightings.
    • Ensure guest safety and adherence to park regulations during all safari activities.

• • Wildlife Education:
    • Educate guests on the diverse wildlife, conservation efforts, and the delicate ecosystem of the region.
    • Facilitate engaging discussions on the behavior and characteristics of the animals encountered.

• • Guest Interaction:
    • Foster positive guest relations by offering personalized and attentive service.
    • Be a knowledgeable point of contact, answering questions and providing information about the local environment.

• • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of safari vehicles and equipment.
    • Conduct regular checks to ensure the fleet is in optimal condition for safaris.

• • Safety Protocols:
    • Enforce and adhere to strict safety protocols during safari activities.
    • Stay informed about current park regulations and communicate changes to the team and guests.

• • Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other guides and lodge staff to enhance the overall guest experience.
    • Participate in regular team meetings to share insights and coordinate safari schedules.

• • Conservation Advocacy:
    • Advocate for conservation practices and wildlife protection among guests.
    • Keep updated on current conservation issues and share relevant information with guests.

• • Proven experience as a safari guide in East Africa.
  • Extensive knowledge of local wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation efforts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining safari vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to adapt safari plans based on guest interests and wildlife movements.
  • First aid and wilderness survival skills.

• • Professional certification as a safari guide.
  • Extensive knowledge of East African flora and fauna.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong commitment to conservation principles.
  • Customer service training or certification is a plus.
