Development & Launch Engineer
This job is to lead the planning design and implementation of the manufacturing process for airbag projects in North American airbag manufacturing plants The Development/ Launch engineer will be a member of a cross functional team throughout the completion of each project
Major roles
Evaluate the airbag design for manufacturability
Design the process flow specify the machines and order the machines create requests for Capital and manage capital costs Evaluate the completed machines for process and quality robustness
Ensure operator safety ensure that all potential failure modes have been addressed in each process in order to deliver a zerodefect airbag
Ensure process meets capacity requirements
The IE will work on global teams to create global process standards and to implement the machine / process standards in this region
Initiate the plan to design and install production lines for new programs
Plan the layout for materialprocessing/manufacturing operations
Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for preparing materials exercising judgment in resolving conflicts between customer requirements economic evaluation of business targets and operator effectiveness (ergonomics and safety)
Conduct evaluations throughout the various stages of production to determine control over variables
Services troubleshoots and solves production process/equipment problems
Provides feedback/recommendations to leadership as appropriate
Develops modifies applies and maintains quality standards and protocol for processing into partially finished or finished materials/product
Collaborates with other engineering and manufacturing groups/teams to ensure quality standards are in place
Implements methods and procedures for inspecting and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment
Designs or specifies Master Verification Parts for equipment to conduct quality assurance tests
Performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with internal and customer requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Will require knowledge in the areas of design incoming material production control product evaluation and reliability inventory control and/or research and development machine/process capabilities
Requires knowledge of customerspecific requirements Will require periodic travel for global support and line install
Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required
Prior experience in process or industrial engineering and project management are preferred
Ability to perform SEM (Standard Evaluation Method)
Understand and adhere to MPS (Manufacturing Process Standards) Produce TSRs (Test Summary Reports)
Understand and develop Process Requirement Specifications
Ability to be hands on understanding manufacturing and the cost drivers associated with manufacturing
Work closely with manufacturing and design to develop products that are manufacturable in a safely efficiently and and costeffective method for Autoliv
Ability to work autonomously make decisions and include key stakeholders
Need to be able to read and understand engineering drawings and models
Need to be able to understand Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis
Need experience in tooling design and machine operation
Need to manage schedules effectively
English is the required language
Frequent global meetings will require working (in English) with employees and customers of other cultures and nationalities
