Mechanical Systems Engineer : West / North West London, South East
OTE Salary: 40,000 - 50,000 + van for work use
MacArthur Recruitment is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to carry out servicing, fault finding, installation, commissioning and repairs on a range of mechanical industrial assets on customer sites in the South East area, predominately around North West / West London. You will work individually or with one other person where you will be the lead.
As a Mechanical Systems Engineer you will be working for a successful design, fabrication and engineering company, based in the north west. Your mechanical background could be varied. Typically you will be involved in refurb, maintenance, installation, fault finding, commissioning and repair. Eg car mechanic, plant mechanic, industrial or heavy engineering, FastFit, machine maintenance, etc..
Your background will ideally be from either an industrial, engineering or related sector. Eg industrial cranes, general mechanics, derrick s, gantries, doors or other moving electrical and mechanical assets.
You will be paid for your travel time from your home to the customer site; typically up to an hour or less away.

Summary of the role of Mechanical Systems Engineer:
Travel to customer sites to carry out servicing, fault finding, installation, commissioning and repairs on industrial assets.
Your customer geography will be around the areas from West London, NW London eg Chandler s Cross, Staines, Slough, Watford, Gerrards Cross, Bracknell, Croydon, etc. and near surrounds.
Key responsibilities for the role of Mechanical Systems Engineer:
- Travelling to customers sites and interacting with the customer
- Servicing, fault finding, installation, commissioning and repairs on the mechanical aspects of industrial / mechanical assets
- Health and safety, quality, customer facing, technically skilled
- Take a leads role with other engineers including helping or mentoring junior engineers
- Hard-working, motivated and a team player
- Meticulous, with an eye for detail as well as resilient and calm under pressure
- Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and job tasks with a willingness to work overtime as / if required
- Willingness to support work across the UK and overseas if needed.
Experience and skills required for the role of Mechanical Systems Engineer:
- Background in engineering, mechanics, industrial, construction or similar sectors
- Time-served Mechanical apprenticeship or relevant Mechanical NVQ and/or BTEC
- Good understanding of mechanical principles
- Background in one or more of - industrial cranes, derrick s, gantries, industrial doors or other moving mechanical assets
- Ability to follow and adhere to Risk Assessments and read and apply Method Statements
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
- Hands-on approach to progressing work
- Supervise accuracy and quality of work
- IT literate eg service customer relationship database, MS Office
- Strong people and communication skills
- Committed to continuous improvement initiatives
- Full UK driving license.
Certifications and further training for the role of Mechanical Systems Engineer:
- CSCS Card - desirable
- IOSH Working Safely - desirable
- Industrial Qualification of some type - desirable
- Work at Height training (PASMA / IPAF) - desirable
- Asbestos Awareness - desirable
