The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks one Research Technician I for the project Sustainable Intensification of Potato for Achieving Self-Sufficiency in Odisha based at CIP-Bhubaneswar office, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

About the role:

The Research Technician I will provide experienced operative support to contribute with the research project s objectives and outcomes. This position will be field based in Bhubaneswar, India and will report directly to the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the team for potato cultivation activities including ensuring high quality of work and implementation of activities to support project advancement.
  
• Work within CIP-Odisha team to establish suitable targets and methodologies for potato project advancement.
  
• Contribute to potato production and income generation respectively by small and marginal farmers in the target districts.
  
• Work together with district level horticulture officers/private partners/traders/progressive farmers/cold storage owners to establish a strong potato value chain.
  
• Strict monitoring of the health and well-being of crop grown in the field and keep the Project Manager updated.
  
• Share responsibility for the proper execution of all the field activities.
  
• Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.
  
  

Requirements

What are we looking for?

• Technical studies in agriculture related discipline or equivalent on job specialization.
  
• At least 1-year of work experience in agriculture/horticulture-related projects involving research for development.
  
• Willingness to travel extensively and occasionally render service beyond normal working hours.
  
• Intermediate level of MS office and intermediate level of database work.
  
• Intermediate level of knowledge of English.
  
• Advanced written and oral communication of Odiya is an additional asset.
