About the Position:

The firm is seeking a highly qualified associate with a minimum of six years of robust health care transactional experience to join our esteemed and growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, top-tier health care practice known for its integrated professional services approach. Our Health Care practice, recognized nationally in Chambers with Band 1 and Band 2 rankings in New York and California, as well as additional Tier 1 and Tier 2 rankings in the Legal 500, is at the forefront of the industry, handling a wide array of complex transactions.


Responsibilities:

  • Work on health care transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, affiliations, joint ventures, and private equity deals.
  • Demonstrate expertise in health industry contracting, state licensure, corporate governance, and regulatory matters.
  • Provide counsel on fraud and abuse, state licensure, corporate practice of medicine/fee splitting rules, managed care, and health care antitrust.


Requirements

  • Minimum of six years of strong health care transactional experience.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and joint ventures for health care stakeholders.
  • Strong interest in health care issues and trends, coupled with a robust health care regulatory background.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent legal research, and analytical skills.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities, working independently and proactively to develop creative solutions.
  • California Bar membership in good standing.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES Superior intellect and quick grasp of complex legal issues, as evidenced by superior grades in law school and/or work experience in similar settings. Strong work ethic and willingness to work as needed to get any task done. Good organizational and project management skills. Proficient in the use of on-line legal research services and legal resources. Superior legal writing skills. Excellent oral communication. Must have sound judgment. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field s concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team with internal and external contacts. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and situations. Proven willingness to work hard in a fast-paced atmosphere. Experience with use of document/discovery databases (e.g. Relativity). EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING Must be a graduate of an accredited law school. Admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan or ability to obtain admission upon commencement of employment.
