Overview

StaffDrafts is recruiting a CFO for a Rockville, MD based provider of innovative information technology solutions and services to the government contracting (GovCon) industry. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our dynamic team and help drive our financial strategy and performance to new heights.

Responsibilities

Position Overview: As the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in overseeing all financial aspects of our organization, with a primary focus on GovCon financial practices, compliance, and governance. You will lead a team of financial professionals and work closely with the executive leadership to ensure the financial health and success of the company. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of relevant experience in GovCon financial practices and hold a CPA certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial leadership to guide the company's growth, profitability, and sustainability.
  2. Compliance and Governance: Ensure strict adherence to government contracting regulations and industry standards, maintaining the highest levels of compliance and governance.
  3. Financial Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
  4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes to drive effective resource allocation and decision-making.
  5. Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial metrics to the executive team and board.
  6. Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, safeguarding the company's financial interests.
  7. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  8. Financial Systems: Implement and manage financial systems, tools, and processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  9. Preparing and reviewing the monthly executive team financial reporting package and quarterly board of directors’ financial reports.
  10. Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, preparing cash flow projections, and checking on bank covenants compliance.
  11. Continuing to refine and improve accounting processes and policies and procedures to increase efficiency and mitigate errors.
  12. Overseeing government accounting compliance, including provisional/final indirect cost rate submissions and NIH/DFAS Audits.
  13. Strengthening relationships with financial/tax auditors, bank investment reps, overseas offices, and internal customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a focus on GovCon financial practices.
  • Strong knowledge of government contracting regulations, compliance, and governance.
  • Proven track record of successful financial leadership in a similar role.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
