Job Responsibilities
1. Work with integrated product teams in a development environment to define requirements for designing safety and reliability into systems, subsystems, and components.
2. Execute MIL-STD-882 or NASA system safety program, from planning through hazard retirement.
3. Responsible for performing Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) on new propulsion systems including electrical and mechanical systems.
4. Experience with reliability calculations and methods.
5. Support failure analysis to determine root cause of failures.
6. Prepare safety and reliability reports both written and verbal.
7. Present at safety boards.
8. Determine and acquire hazard classifications for products.
9. Directs and supports proposal-writing efforts or authors sections/volumes for System Safety Engineering for a project.
10. Provides data to and manages risk management (identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies).
11. Leads, prepares and presents System Safety and Reliability materials during System Requirement Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review and System Verification Review and other formal program reviews.
12. Performs and manages cost estimates and project planning for System Safety and/or reliability.
13. Willingness to learn and perform additional Systems Engineering concepts or practices from the team. Comments for Suppliers:This is a true engineer role.
