Job Description

- Actively participates in the technical and analytical work of the section.
- Determines acceptability of specimens and/or blood or blood components, performs laboratory tests and communicates critical results in accordance with laboratory policy for assigned section and/or obtains and records results for laboratory tests according to established procedures.
- Liaises with Technologist II and Supervisor - Clinical Biochemistry on appropriateness of tests, results and additional testing as required.
- Maintains Chemistry equipment asset in Qpulse.
- Uploads maintenance and troubleshoot logs in Qpulse.
- Maintains and updates the Chemistry Quality board.
- Assists the Technologist II and the Supervisor with Quality control daily process, Reagent management and CAP review and investigation.
- Monitors, records and reports back results, participates in discussions to rectify areas of concern if necessary.
- Maintains co-operation between the sections and between disciplines by regular communication with other Technologist I grade and Senior staff.
- In liaison with the Technologist II and Supervisor - Clinical Biochemistry, ensures adequate stocks of reagents and consumables are available for the efficient running of the service.
- In liaison with the Technologist II and the Supervisor - Clinical Biochemistry, provides technical advice on, and assists in the selection / validation of new equipment.
