The role

As a Borehole Geophysical Logging (Wireline) Engineer, you will support many exciting projects within our land site characterisation team, these could include infrastructure, nuclear, transport, tunnelling, mining, and renewable projects. The Projects could be based onshore, nearshore, and marine environments. You will be working with a driven team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, geophysicists, drillers, and consultants collaborating and engaging with them to perform wireline geophysical logging data acquisitions, processing and analysing wireline geophysical data and producing the field and final reports. Your role will be focused on conducting borehole geophysical logging on project sites across the UK and overseas. Projects may be based on land, from nearshore jack-up platforms or from marine survey vessels.

Your responsibilities will include preparation, calibration, maintenance, and mobilization of geophysical equipment's.

Experience with wireline geophysical equipment would be preferable but full training will be provided to allow you to carry out your job tasks. Your role will also include processing of geophysical logging data and production of field and final reports. When reporting you will need to produce and interpret data and contribute to multi-disciplinary integrated reports. The role will require some administrative and operational duties within the wireline geophysical services department, and a positive contribution to ensuring all process flows, documents and forms are maintained.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for someone with a degree or equivalent qualification in a Geoscience or related Engineering/Mechanical /Electrical engineering discipline and who has a passion about geoscience and geo-data. Some one who can bring energy and can engage enthusiastically and collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders. To be successful, you need to have communication skills that are second to none.

A background in geosciences, mechanical or electrical engineering or geo-technical investigation is preferable for this role. Prior knowledge of using WellCAD software and slim hole wireline geophysical logging equipment would be advantageous, however full training can be given.

This role will need you to be mobile and to travel to sites and to work in the office when necessary.

The Candidate must:

  • Have a full manual UK driving licence.
  • Relocate to the Wallingford area.
  • Have the full right to work in the UK.
