This is a remote position.

We are seeking to ll a full-time specialist position with a candidate that has diverse interests, education, and experience in natural resources, forestry, planning, GIS, and other technology. Our ideal candidate is knowledgeable, passionate, innovative, adaptive, and a team player. They are task-oriented, results-driven, and work well under deadlines and pressure. This position requires someone who is analytical, loves data, has high attention to detail, and is well-written with excellent communication skills. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Providing QA/QC of client data and GIS land cover data, data conversions, geoprocessing, spreadsheet summaries, creating maps and metadata, and assisting in project deliveries
Reviewing, editing, organizing, and processing GIS and environmental data from different sources including mapping data accuracy, image interpretation, and data development for urban land use/land cover classi cation data
Applying forestry, urban planning, and natural resource concepts in contribution to professional, technical reports including narratives, tables, maps, graphics, and background research.
Learning and applying new technologies to support production and reporting of urban tree canopy (UTC) assessment projects and related natural resource management projects
Ensuring quality delivery of all nal products per a proposal or scope of work
Creating and updating standard operating procedures and documentation
Provide GIS support to our Professional Services software tech support team
Communicating internally and externally with clients to gather technical requirements and develop/improve geospatial technology products

Requirements

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Natural resource and/or urban forest management principles and planning processes.Understanding and working experience with GIS raster and vector data including data management, conversion, editing, geoprocessing, modeling, cartographic production, and reporting.
Pro ciency in GIS desktop software including Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, and other open source GIS software.
Conceptual understanding of remotely-sensed data types (including satellite and aerial imagery and LiDAR data) and their uses and software platforms.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and other industry professionals.

BENEFICIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Bachelor s degree in geography, environmental science, urban forestry, computer science, or planning.
Interest in urban forestry, urban ecology, ecosystems, water/natural resources, or land use planning.
Experience with ArcGIS geoprocessing, ModelBuilder, i-Tree, QGIS, image processing software, or other open source tools for processing and analyzing remotely sensed data.
Scripting abilities in R and Python to perform complex spatial analysis and create engaging charts and graphics.
Knowledge of cartographic design and other design technologies such as Photoshop and InDesign.
Problem-solving skills with good attention to detail and the ability to think through and execute spatial analyses from beginning to end.
Strong technical writing skills to support various services, marketing activities, and proposal tasks.

Required Education and Experience 3+ Years in geology, engineer, or scientific field related to the environmental or oil and gas industry. Bachelor's Degree in related field. Experience as a Geologist, Engineer or Scientist in the Environmental industry. Strong technical writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong time management skills. Must possess a strong communication ability with peers, management, and clients. Experience working with State Regulations and related entities. Must be a quick starter.
