Lakeside HR Group, a leading full-service HR consulting and recruiting firm, is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our clients dynamic team in the aftermarket auto parts industry. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the fleet operations, ensuring efficient utilization of vehicles, managing maintenance schedules, implementing telematics and analytics, and leading key fleet-related projects. You will oversee the relationship with our third-party fleet management services. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for driving continuous improvement, and expertise in project management.

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Project Manager will ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the client's fleet, which will significantly impact he overall performance and profitability of the organization.

Fleet Operations Management:
  • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing fleet operations, including vehicle allocation and scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT safety regulations and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including emissions and safety standards.
  • Monitor and manage the fleet budget, including fuel costs and maintenance expenses.
  • Evaluate the need for new vehicles and make recommendations in partnership with our fleet management vendor to executive leadership for disposal or replacement of older vehicles through sales or trade-in, ensuring best return of investment.
Maintenance and Repairs:
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs via our third-party vendor, to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize fleet reliability.
  • Ensure accurate records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, and incidents are maintained.
  • Oversee and make recommendations for vehicle repairs and maintenance, including managing relationships with our third-party vendor's service providers.
  • Monitor and report any accident-related incidents through insurance broker to ensure compliance of best practices and optimized fleet utilization.
Telematics and Analytics:
  • Manage telematics to track vehicle location, performance, and driver behavior to improve.
  • Utilize telematics data to identify trends, improve fuel efficiency, and optimize fleet utilization.
  • Analyze fleet data to identify cost-saving opportunities, reduce risks, and enhance overall last mile delivery service levels.
  • Ensure and monitor accurate MVR records of all drivers and provide guidance to regional teams related to local and state regulations are maintained.
Project Management:
  • Lead and manage key fleet-related projects aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing safety.
  • Develop project plans, set objectives, align resources, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Identify potential risks and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the project stays on track and within the scope.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
Staff Training and Development:
  • Oversee our safety program in partnership with our third-party fleet management services, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Assign training to drivers and provide recommendations to regional General Managers related safe driving practices.
  • Manage Holman’s “Total Safety Program” to ensure all drivers encompass safe driving practices, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience as a Fleet Manager/Project Manager or in a similar role with last-mile delivery company is desirable.
  • Proficiency in vehicle telematics systems, analytics tools, and fleet management software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, providing guidance and support.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures is highly desirable.
  • Project management experience with a track record of successful project delivery.
