Job Description

EMEA Educator Trainer (Wine)

The Educator Training Programme (ETP) prepares candidates to become WSET Educators in all categories of WSET Qualifications. The ETP plays an important role in maintaining educator quality to ensure that all WSET students, no matter where in the world they study, receive a high-quality and consistent educational experience. This role has a focus on Wine Educator Training Programmes and Educator Support.

This role comprises four separate responsibilities: delivery of courses, supporting ETP candidates, developing ETP content, and assisting with the administration of courses.


Key Responsibilities

Delivery (60%)

  • With Head of Educator Training, deliver and co-deliver EMEA-based ETPs and other programmes with a focus on Wines. Most courses are London-based.
  • Provide feedback to ETP candidates throughout in-person and virtual ETPs.
  • Liaise with the ETP Co-ordinator to ensure the smooth running of London-based ETPs.
  • Assist the ETP Co-ordinator in organising ETPs globally, including sorting venues, samples, faculty, classroom materials etc.
  • Where needed, support the Head of Educator Training or local teams in the delivery of ETPs globally.

Support (20%)

  • Support candidates in preparation for ETP courses by providing feedback on pre-course assignments.
  • Collate the results of all ETPs and share results with relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with ETP team and Business Development teams to put together reobservation plans for unsuccessful candidates.
  • Manage and review reobservation videos from unsuccessful candidates: providing candidates with detailed feedback and issuing and recording results.
  • Provide support to WSET Educators.

Development (10%)

  • Working with the Head of Educator Training, help develop ETP programmes and materials with a focus in Wines.
  • Working with Digital teams, help develop digital ETP solutions to improve the Educator Training Programmes with a focus in Wines.
  • Work with the Product Development teams to ensure that all ETP courses and materials align with WSET suites of products.

Course Administration (10%)

  • Support the ETP Co-ordinator with the daily administration of the ETP operations.
  • Assist with monitoring the ETP inboxes and responding to enquiries.
  • Use the WSET CRM to register candidates onto courses, track candidate progress and log candidate results.
  • Use the NetSuite software to manage budgets.

Other Activities

  • Where needed, support WSET School and Business Development teams in the delivery of WSET qualifications.

Other Responsibilities

  • Undertake other tasks relevant to the role.

Person Specification

Required

  • WSET Diploma in Wines
  • Extensive teaching experience (min. 5 years) in a variety of settings
  • Proven experience in educator training, teacher training or train-the-trainer programmes
  • Ability to provide critical and constructive feedback
  • An up-to-date understanding of the wine world
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Willingness to travel within the UK, with occasional international travel required

Desired:

  • Formal teacher qualification
  • WSET Certified Educator (Wines)
  • WSET teaching experience
  • Experience teaching remotely (e.g., via Zoom)
  • Interest in Spirits, Sake or Beer as evidenced by WSET or other qualifications
  • Experience with course development for classroom, online and blended delivery
  • Familiarity with CRM and financial platforms
