LBP Bakeries is a leading supplier and distributor of high-quality frozen bakery goods to the food service and retail industry. Based in Grays, Essex, LBP Bakeries specialises in a huge range of delicious, authentic British and Continental Breads, Viennoiserie, Sweet Bakery, and Patisserie products that are so delicious that our customers always enjoy and return for more!

As a leading Frozen bakery distributor, we operate circa 300 to 400 SKUs from approximately 35 suppliers. With years of experience in the food industry, our team has the passion and expertise to ensure we offer excellent customer service, the highest quality products, and value for money.

The role:

As the Procurement Manager, your role is to unlock cost of goods benefits and to deliver volume, sales, and margin targets for the category. The primary task for the role entails overseeing purchasing and stock management between our 2 sites. This includes negotiating the lowest cost price for product vs. market, sourcing relevant products from the most appropriate suppliers, developing supplier partnerships, improving availability, contingency planning where relevant, and helping to drive overall sales, profitability, and efficiencies. In addition to this, you will;

• Spearhead the development and execution of our category strategy, aligning with our growth objectives.
• Establish robust supplier partnerships, hand-selecting the cream of the crop with support from our dedicated team.
• Negotiate rock-bottom product costs, consistently improving year over year.
• Vigilantly monitor supplier performance, ensuring top-notch competitiveness and availability.
• Collaborate on dynamic business plans with key suppliers, including innovative digital and marketing opportunities.
• Keep our cost files and savings pipelines razor-sharp.
• Play a pivotal role in a range of decisions to supercharge our sales.
• Provide invaluable market insights for pricing decisions and benchmarking.

Key Requirements:

• Prior experience in grocery buying or procurement management in retail, supermarkets, or large food service organisations.
• Proven experience overseeing purchasing and stock management.
• International Food Buyer exposure and experience with currency management.
• A proven track record of managing substantial cost savings.
• Adept at working with external customers and driving sales and margin growth.
• Experienced in cross-functional teamwork and building winning category strategies.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with FMCG purchasing processes.
• Confidence and experience in presenting to diverse audiences.

• This role is offered with a competitive package of a salary of 40,000 per annum
• The salary increases to 45,000 per annum after the 3 months probation
