Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by a growing IT consulting company to recruit a Human Resources Manager in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area. This exciting position is responsible for all aspects of managing the human resources function in alignment with our client’s mission, values, and objectives and in compliance with applicable employment laws. The Human Resources Manager will serve as a business partner with key business functions in both developing strategy and execution of day-to-day human resources needs. The Human Resources Manager will design, lead and manage: benefits and compensation, performance management, employee relations and compliance.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Acts as primary contact regarding employee issues such as disciplinary action, terminations, and promotions.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business both strategically and operationally to establish and implement short-term and long-term human resource strategies that align with company culture and values and drive business results.
  • Work continually toward professional development to stay current on relevant industry trends and human resources, training and development and supervisory procedures and practices.
  • Oversee the employee experience, including employee onboarding processes, employee surveys and stay/exit interviews.
  • Develop, recommend, and communicate Human Resources policies and practices that comply with State and Federal laws and are consistent with organizational philosophy. Monitor compliance with policies and practices.
  • Manages the unemployment claims processes, including completion of claims, appeals and providing requested documentation.
  • Maintains HRIS records and compiles reports from ADP.
  • Responsible for disciplinary action process.
  • Responsible for background checks/drug testing administration.
  • Develops and manages employee On Boarding, employee files and I9's
  • Manages the benefit programs, assesses benefit needs and trends, and coordinates annual enrollment.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships and improve employee morale.
  • Work with immigration attorney to maintain and obtain H1B Visa’s and transfers as well as green card processing.
  • Registration as an employer in new states we hire into and maintain compliance.
  • Ensure Compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws in all states we are an employer.
  • Responsible for compliance items within benefits 401k 5500 and Mid-Year and End-Year Non-Discrimination testing for 125 benefits.
  • File Work Force Utilization and Affirmative action reports, Maintain MN Human Rights Equal pay certificates and audits.
  • Manage audits from VMS and Clients.
  • Manage audits for Workers Compensation Insurance annually.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related business field.
  • Human Resources certification preferred (i.e. SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP).
  • 5+ years with related Human Resource experience including experience in the administration of benefits, compensation programs, employee relations and recruiting.
  • ADP Workforce Now experience, or similar HRIS.
  • Verified Credentials Background Screening service experience, or similar.
  • Allerus Benefit Management experience, or similar.
  • Voya 401k Benefit Management experience, or similar.
  • Understanding of payroll administration.
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and best practices to make responsible, legal, and compliant decisions.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, problem solving, conflict management and decision-making on sensitive and confidential issues.
  • A high level of attention to detail, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Strong customer service (internal and external).
