Lakeside HR Group has been engaged to recruit for an Assistant Controller in Orlando, Florida for a premier specialty contractor in acoustical ceilings, drywall, and flooring within the commercial space. They provide the aesthetics, functionality, and cost-efficiencies required for general and custom construction applications! This position will focus on supporting the financial needs of the region.

Roles and Responsibilities for an Assistant Controller:

  • Daily cash management and reconciling bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address reconciling items.

  • Upload AP check register into bank for positive pay.

  • Record fixed asset deprecation and maintain schedule.

  • Sales tax filing & exemption certificates.

  • File tangible personal property tax.

  • Renew Florida tags for Orlando.

  • Fuel Tax filing and business Annual Filings

  • Perform reconciliations of accounts and actively investigate reconciling items to resolve timely.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested by Controller.

Additional Qualifications that will make an Assistant Controller successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related discipline required.

  • Certification a plus

  • 5+ years prior accounting experience required. Construction experience is a huge plus.

  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.

  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting. principles (GAAP).

  • Highly proficient with accounting software. Sage/Timberline experience a huge plus.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Ability to interact with staff in a positive and professional manner.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Team Player, willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary

  • Honesty, integrity and strong desire to be successful

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

  • Can-do, positive attitude.

Salary:

90k-95k
