This is a remote position.


Contract - Project Manager

Up to £500 a day depending on experience

Location: Hybrid with 2days a week in the London or Manchesteroffice (Full time Mon-Fri)

Duration: 6 month contract (Outside IR35)

Project overview

Our client requires a seasoned Project Manager with payments and ISO20022 experience to deliver the modernisation of existing legacy systems, specify deliverables and embed the delivered changes across the business.


As a Project Manager you llbe leading the project team members, a mix of internal SMEs and technical staff as well as Project Partners own experienced staff, to help them work out what needs to be done, build plans, manage the unexpected and make sure all the impacts of change and new ways of working are covered.


Your change management, excellent communication and business transformation skills will be key to ensure the business adopt these new ways of working whilst closely engaging with our client s senior leaders.


You ll manage stakeholders confidently and diplomatically, gently coaching and always willing to share your knowledge.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the team to deliver high-quality project within specified time and cost constraints to reach a goal.



Main Accountabilities

  • Understands the why and defines the project s scope and goals
  • Leads the planning, delivery, and implementation of project, planning and scheduling project timelines
  • Coordinates project teams, planning resource and task allocation
  • Manages risks, budget, and client relationships
  • Tracks project performance, reporting regularly to stakeholders
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle. Develop contingency plans and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance standards, particularly in relation to ISO20022.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, operations, risk management, and business units, to gather requirements, communicate project status, and ensure alignment with overall business goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as vendors and partners.
  • Delivers all aspects of the full project life cycle
  • Ensure team members are provided with support and tools to successfully complete tasks
  • Manage Change Requests within the project, ensuring impact assessments have been undertaken and communicated to stakeholders in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ensure issues with the team performance are escalated to the Service Deliver Manager in a timely manner
  • Maintain regular communication and ensure regular update meetings are held with Service Delivery Manager
  • Raise any risk events relating to the conduct of the contract with Service Delivery Manager in timely manner in accord with the agreed timescales and process.



Requirements


Essential skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a project manager in the banking or financial services sector, with a focus on payments projects.
  • Familiarity with data migration and integration processes when transitioning from legacy systems to new platforms
  • Familiarity with ISO20022 standards and their application in the banking industry
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements, particularly in the payments domain
  • Strong project management expertise, including project planning, execution, risk management, and stakeholder management.
  • Understanding of banking systems and payment processes, including knowledge of back-office operations, payment gateways, and transactional systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex problems, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions. Strong decision-making skills, balancing competing priorities and managing risks effectively
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines. Ability to adapt quickly and positively to new challenges.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience working in a rapidly changing environment and modernising legacy systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience of both agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Worked for a variety of organisations
