The Penny Ice Creamery Shop Manager assists the Area Manager by ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operations of our two new Penny Ice Creamery locations: Town and Country Village in Palo Alto and a forthcoming neighboring Bay Area The Shop Manager is a dynamic leader who is comfortable in taking full responsibility for their The Shop Manager is able to quickly adapt and change gears throughout the day; they are available on a consistent and reliable basis to meet all shop needs and staffing needs as they

Requirements


Staff Management
  • Train, manage, coach, and discipline staff; upholding expectations of excellence

  • Ensure smooth daily operations at all times

  • Schedule staff and analyze labor cost on a weekly basis

  • Communicate with staff regularly; perform weekly check-ins to ensure success

  • Be the first point of contact for staff inquiries, questions, and concerns

  • Monitor and manage staff breaks

  • Conduct working interviews to assess potential candidates

  • Anticipate future staffing needs; strategize with HR Manager and Area Manager

  • Monitor staff adherence to business policies and take corrective actions as needed

  • Build and maintain a strong, hands on managerial presence in both shops


Guest Service Management

  • Demonstrate excellence, warmth and professionalism in all guest service interactions

  • Serve as a brand ambassador for The Penny Ice Creamery; proudly represent the core values of the business

  • Uphold The Penny Ice Creamery reputation and that of The Glass Jar, ;

  • Resolve delicate guest service situations with poise and professionalism


Inventory Management

  • Oversee product quality at both locations

  • Conduct weekly paper goods inventory at both locations and place orders as needed

  • Conduct bi-weekly kitchen and ice cream inventories for both locations

  • Coordinate deliveries of product between locations using requisition protocol

  • Monitor & order apron, towel, sanitizer and soap inventory as needed

  • Monitor inventory for all products or items at your locations as needed


Shops Management

  • Ensure health safety protocols are followed at both shop locations; ensure shop and staff preparedness for impromptu health inspector visits

  • Oversee daily shop upkeep to maintain an impeccable presentation

  • Maintain and troubleshoot essential equipment, communicating any major issues to the Area Manager

  • Manage change banks; Monitor deposits and cash reconciliation for accuracy

  • Make cost-cutting and efficiency recommendations to the Area Manager based on regular assessment
