We are a multinational group with over 100 years of experience in the supply of comprehensive transit solutions positioned at the forefront of technology for high value-added sustainable mobility.

The company is a leader of the railway industry offering one of the most comprehensive and flexible arrays of products in railway related markets, such as rolling stock, components, infrastructure, signalling and services (maintenance, refurbishing and financial services).

The Systems Engineer will firstly get to know CAF s procedures for SW development & validation. And will apply them in the very first projects. In the middle term He/She could be requested to assemble a SW team with either organic resources or external collaborations.

Being His/Her primary role the SW, the System Engineer will also be involved with different electronic systems (e.g. Passenger Information System, CCTV, Event Recorder, Radio, Signalling System).

For this purpose, He/She will work together with the Headquarters and the Indian Design Team, as well as with Procurement, SQA, Manufacturing and Testing teams; dealing with sub-suppliers for managing and monitoring their system design.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Short term):

  • Understand the train architecture and functionality defined for the project and translate them into SW requirements and serial bus interfaces.
  • Be involved in all technical activities necessary to implement the defined train functionality / serial communication architecture by programming the TCMS (train control and monitoring system).
  • Undertake SW validation activities before the train is built (test benches) and at the train once built (static, dynamic testing).
  • Follow-up pending issues to sort out the SW problems that arise during testing and commissioning activities.
  • Always have a detailed knowledge of the indian based electronic sub-suppliers. Their strengths, weaknesses and how suitable they are to different project needs.
  • Follow-up activities of the indian based electronic sub-suppliers throughout the entire lifecycle of the tender + projects.
  • Lead the Interface between the system sub-supplier and the rest of the team involve in the project: engineering team, quality, testing, approvals, purchasing and project management.
  • Represent CAF in face of the final customer during the design (e.g. design reviews) and validation phases (e.g. testing activities).
  • Undertake design validation activities related to the Systems under His responsibility, and ensure the design is compliant with the System Specification.
  • Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance with them.
  • To manage the interface with the factory, and design enhancements needed to solve problems that arise during manufacturing ramp-up, testing and commissioning.
  • Project follow up and reporting for Systems activities to Focal Points and Project Management.
  • Proactively working to contribute to a continuous improvement culture, raising opportunities for improvement whenever these are identified.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Middle term):

  • Assemble a SW team with either organic resources or external collaborations in order to assume the responsibilities described above for a broader number of projects (both indian and non-indian).


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Monitoring and Control Engineering (SW field).

Professional Experience:

  • Experienced (a minimum of 5 years) in railway sector in SW development & testing.

Skills:

  • Very good interpersonal and organization skills, open minded, excellent abilities for team work, proactivity, proven level of autonomy.
  • As a potential focal point in the future, ability to lead small working teams and manage collaborations with external partners.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Experience in requirement Management with DOORs.
  • Language: High English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Availability for frequent travelling within India and also to Headquarters in Spain or other CAF manufacturing plants around the world (for testing and commissioning activities).
