The business is rapidly growing, they are looking for Senior Developer to lay down the foundation and to help them in their existing projects. The ideal candidate for this role who have been a part of a development core team for a scalable product and or have built the groundwork of a product from scratch
Job Summary:
- As a Full-Stack Senior Software Developer, your primary function is developing applications in the AWS environment to enhance the racing industry. Typical products you work with are high-speed low latency real-time data streams in racing which captures tracking and timing data via
- UDP/TCP interfaces as well as MQTT; weather data; and our day-to-day operational scripts.
- Interest and/or experience in the horse racing industry or other racing sports is highly recommended. We expect you to understand the basics of timing and tracking (GPS-based tracking) systems, to understand our solutions.
- To apply for the job, you need to have a solid understanding around the following terminology: TCP/UDP, MQTT, AWS API Gateway, RDS, SQL, Grafana, real-time data, serial connection, API, XML, C#, and .NET
- Your input into our company matters; our data is seen and used by broadcasters, punters, and racing professionals across the globe. Accuracy and having an eye for detail is paramount.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supporting the platforms in use by the development and operation teams
- Develop software solutions to implement enhancements and resolve problems within cloud-based and desktop solutions
- AWS environment management
- Ensure development effort is aligned with agreed priorities and within agreed time frames and budgets
- Confer and assist team members and other developers on problems, improvements and modifications to system software and projects
- Utilise existing shared code and common libraries where possible and full document work so that it can be maintained by colleagues
- Adopt test-driven development methodologies to improve software quality
- Provide project leadership
- Provide operational technical support and after-hours support where required
- Identify and adopt development standards, practices, and technologies and share
- knowledge, reporting and communication with other staff members
- Actively contribute to internal forums and project teams by presenting
- technical concepts and innovative ideas
- Develop operational efficiencies through the automation of repetitive tasks
- Learn new techniques through initiative
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- University degree qualifications in computer science, software engineering or a similar degree
- Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of the full-stack software developer.
- Well versed in modern software technologies and practices including .Net Core, C#, SQL, Data Streaming Services, AWS, and Python (highly regarded), ReactJS /Web Front-End and CI/CD, (a bonus)
- Knowledge of TCP, UDP and serial data connections as well binary protocols like protobuf and others.
- Knowledge and skill in best practice software development methodologies and design
- patterns
- Knowledge and skills in object-oriented software design patterns and principals
- A passion for technology and keeping abreast of current industry trends and developments
- AWS certificates are highly regarded.
- Good written and oral communication
- Strong conceptual, critical thinking and analytical skills - demonstrating outside-the-box problem-solving skill

- Enthusiastic attitude with a can-do approach
