Laboratory Technician 1

Description:

The successful candidate will perform testing and basic assessment of product performance with respect to systematic troubleshooting and support of manufacturing issues for Atellica VTLi immunoassay diagnostic tests. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving and handling of blood samples, testing of commercial and experimental VTLi cartridge lots, assessing and documenting performance issues observed during testing and organizing results and status of testing performed each week. This person must be highly competent in good lab practice, blood handling and willing to learn specialized testing techniques. Must also be able to prepare, analyze, and present coherent data for review.

Major tasks and responsibilities:
Work with Product Support technical leaders to collect and analyze reagent and instrument performance data necessary for product/process improvements, customer complaint and problem investigations.
Follow protocols and good lab practice to ensure proper handling of blood samples.
Able to execute test protocols, properly document and analyze/interpret their results.
Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and directly with colleagues and provide well-written, coherent progress updates.
Testing requirements may vary each week. Typically 16 to 24 hours will be required which will have flexibility of days/hours per week.

Qualifications:
Preferred degree or laboratory experience in Biochemistry.
Minimal two years' experience, preferably in a medical device or related industry.
Experience running immunoassay or diagnostic tests.
Demonstrated competence in data interpretation.
Working knowledge of basic statistics necessary to analyze data.
Able to fully understand and follow testing protocols, prepare data analysis reports and able to utilize data collection applications in a laboratory setting.
Must be well versed in Office Applications, particularly Excel and Word.
