Job Description
- Performs supervisory functions at the unit level as established by the Hospital Management.
- Co-ordinates and directs the overall activities of his subordinate physicians, technologist & clerks to ensure that administrative and professional standards of medical practice are maintained.
- Handles administrative and operational matters related to the activities of the histopathology unit, ensures efficient and appropriate use of resources, plans for a continuous growth of its market share, takes part of the marketing activities for its services, and consults with Laboratory head of department as required
- Answers to all queries from the general administration, medical administration, doctors and experts from the Ministry of Health.
- Responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements, whether those established by Ministry of Health, medical policies and procedures and to highest professional standards of practice.
- Assesses the need for and develops and implements new policies and procedures, following their approval by the Laboratory head of department & quality department, that guide and support the provision of high quality of professional care
- Takes responsibilities connected with laboratory testing protocols and quality practices ensuring patient's safety and satisfaction as the absolute goal.
- Introduces new tests, and establishes liaison with referral laboratories regarding tests which cannot be performed in-house for several reasons, and ensures proper referral practices by department staff
- Responsible for selection of technologies based on best practice and validation of newly introduced methods based on objective performance characteristics
- Responsible for continuous personnel development of Laboratory staff.
