This is a remote position.
DEPARTMENT: Delivery
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, flexible
CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, home based
REPORTS TO: Delivery Manager
JOB PURPOSE: To take ownership and be the expert of our web platform.
What are you responsible for?
Working as part of a small web development team to maintain our current websites and to be a key member of the team working on our brand-new website
Troubleshoot and suggest improvements to increase performance and stability of the websites
What will you get up to?

- Take responsibility for your own professional development
- Day to day technical management of a growing website with increasing traffic
- Deal with troubleshooting issues
- Implementing new features and functionality
- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
- Assist in formulating an effective, responsive design
- Development of core website features
- Plugin development and maintenance
- Theme development and maintenance
- Frontend development
- Performance monitoring and tuning
- Knowledge sharing and documentation
- Change and release management
Requirements
What you re good at...
- Support the vision and mission statement of Classroom Secrets
- Effectively manage own workload and deadlines within the working week
- Liaise with other team members to ensure swift turnaround of work within set deadlines
- Treat colleagues with respect and consideration
- Practice professional conduct across social media, especially if interacting with customers
- Reflect on own practice as well as the practices of the company with the aim of improving all that we do and achieving excellence
- Monitor individual progress within interim business plans
- Ensure that all deadlines are met as stated in the company s working calendar
- Be proactive and take initiative when working independently
- Contribute ideas to both business matters and website content in regular staff meetings
- Organise and prioritise tasks according to specific deadlines
- Proactively seek feedback to improve performance
Technical requirements
- Sound understanding of PHP
- Familiarity with Wordpress
- Experience of integrating plug ins and page templates (Wordpress)
- Ability to interrogate a brief and work with stakeholders to map out technical requirements
- Experience of working with Laravel
- Understanding of rest APIs
- Experience of using front end javascript frameworks (Vue/Nuxt)
- Ability to write clean and maintainable code
- Self-starter and proactive attitude
It s not essential but it would be great if you also have
- 1-2 years commercial experience of PHP
- Experience of using AWS or other cloud service providers
- Experience of integrating payment gateways
- Experience of using GIT
- Familiarity with continuous integration pipelines
- Experience of working on UX projects
- Understanding of agile methodology
