The Prep Technician role is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in broadcast technologies. You will be directly involved in the preparation of technical equipment and systems for high profile outside broadcasts.

We are recruiting for six Prep Technicians to work at our Bracknell Head Office. The six technicians will rotate through the three main technical departments at NEP UK; Cameras, Sound and Vision. In each rotation you will gain hands-on experience of the technology, processes and workflows used in outside broadcasts, major events and at our production facility in London. To ensure you have the opportunity to get the most out of each rotation you will spend time within all operation and technical support departments at NEP UKs HQ -Base Operations, Base Rigging, Equipment Coordination, Fibre Maintenance, RF Technology, Production Coordination and Technical Maintenance. NEP will provide a mix of practical training and classroom-based learning, complemented by an in house mentorship scheme.

In your role you will contribute directly to the successful delivery of NEPs projects and contracts. The key responsibilities of the role are:
  • Perform tier 1 preparation, installation, and testing of broadcast equipment before deployment, ensuring kits are complete, in full working order, packaged for transport.
  • Monitor and maintain stock for all technical equipment in and out of base, ensuring that all kit is checked, tested and cleaned.
  • Assist with the identification and repairs of faulty equipment
  • Assist Camera Guarantees and Engineers with the preparation and configuration of outside broadcast facilities, equipment and systems.
  • In collaboration with Equipment Resourcing, Engineering and Stores Supervisors, prepare equipment loads for deployment

Requirements

This role suites ambitious applicants with a passion for broadcast and media technology, who wish to build a career as a broadcast technician. We are looking for a candidate who has a desire to learn, strong and confident communication skills and a great team player. You should consider yourself a logical and systematic thinker with good problem solving skills.

Applicants should have the following qualifications:
  • A levels, BTEC, NVQ, SVQ, T level qualification. Ideally in scientific, technology and/or media related subjects. Candidates who have completed apprenticeship at technology companies and those with relevant industry experience may also apply.
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above (including Maths and English).
  • Evidence of working in technical roles in theatre, TV or radio will also be highly regarded
