Purpose of Position/Summary:

Directs and coordinates patient care and clinical supervision of Behavioral Health Recovery Attendants primarily on evening/night shift. Assumes responsibility for the ongoing assessment of each patient s physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge. This position requires the performance of a full range of nursing care for patients with a wide range of medical diagnosis and varying degrees of illness. Promotes the institution mission of Hope and Recovery.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prioritizes and organizes the daily care of patients.
  • Makes patient care assignments based upon specific patient needs.
  • Provides ongoing assessment of the patients physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge.
  • Directs BHRAs to coordinate the workflow on the unit. Recognizes and defines problems and takes corrective actions.
  • Conducts nursing programs.
  • Serves as a Treatment Plan Coordinator and develops treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff (evening shift).
  • Administers medications and treatments according to institution policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements nursing care plans for acute medical problems.
  • Works in collaboration with the unit ADON/Nurse 6/Nursing Supervisor to plan treatment and programs for the unit.
  • Completes medication administration per policy.
  • Completes monthly Nursing progress notes on assigned patients.
  • Provides immediate and effective feedback to employees concerning behavior and performance.
  • Works closely with the ADON, Nurse 6 and unit physician to provide quality care.
  • Communicates with the ADON, Nurse 6 and physician on an ongoing basis to notify them of patient status.
  • Educates patients and family members regarding medication, procedures and treatment goals and objectives.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Assures that staff follow institution and nursing policies and procedures correctly. Interprets policies and procedures to staff as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Directs care/intervenes with agitated patients.
  • Serves on Nursing and Hospital Committees as assigned.
  • Provides orientation to unit staff as needed.
  • Attends training as assigned and maintains certification in Bridge Building, CPR/AED professional rescuer, and TB.
  • Floating to other units is required




Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Three (3) year s experience in developmental disability, geriatric, or psychiatric nursing or accredited college training in Nursing.
  • Possession of a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau required. (Proof of valid license must accompany application.)
  • Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn other programs used in maintaining the electronic medical records.
  • Good interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication skills.

Job Summary: Oversee the daily operations of the behavioral and mental health business unit for Syra Health to ensure goals, objectives, and sales targets are achieved. Design innovative behavior and mental health programs and services. Build and manage a highly skilled and experienced team of behavioral and mental health practitioners and support staff who will deliver the best treatment for patients and support for clients. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directs the day-to-day operations of the unit and implements programmatic, service delivery, and administrative policies and procedures to attain unit goals and objectives. Hires and trains new staff in collaboration with the Director of Talent Acquisition. Leads the unit staff, evaluates employee performance, and makes recommendations for People Operations actions to the Senior Director of Human Resources. Build the unit organization including its mission, business strategy, goals, and objectives. Develops and monitor the budget and P&L for the business unit. Duties/Responsibilities: Oversees the unit production, services, patient delivery, and client relations functions for all behavioral and mental health programs and services. Design innovative behavior and mental health programs and services. Oversees quality assurance in the unit s service delivery including clinical care and documentation. Oversees the productivity of the unit to meet established standards and to ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services. Adheres to the organization s code of ethics and complies with state mental health codes where services are provided. Manage relationships and network with subject matter experts in the behavioral and mental health field for partnership and consulting support. Develop short and long-range, strategic sales and service performance goals for the unit aligned with organizational goals. Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, sales data, and activity reports. Identifies and reviews pricing and market trends; analyzes and applies this information in the development of strategies for individual market segments. Generates and reviews reports on business unit performance to executive management. Coordinates with the Director of Sales and the Manager of Life Science on sales and procurement strategy, goals, and opportunities including pricing, timing, and the number of sales promotions, and products to be sold. Coordinates with other support departments such as people operations, finance and accounting, marketing, and IT to ensure successful delivery of services. Required Skills/Abilities: Experience and background running programs and services in behavioral and mental health Clinical expertise in crisis intervention, skill in working with the mentally ill population, and with individuals undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress; skill in diagnosis and assessment. Skills in supervising, evaluating, and disciplining staff of professionals and paraprofessionals. Familiarity with community support systems, health care, and human service resources, court and police activities, government contracts etc. Good organizational skills and administrative abilities. Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including weekends. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to a professional code of ethics. Knowledge of and the ability to comply with various state mental health codes. Education and Experience: Master s degree in a mental health discipline required. Certified consulting/licensed psychologist (PhD) preferred. Appropriate professional registration/certification by state/national authority required. At least five years of professional experience in the mental health or human services fields are required with at least three years at the supervisory level preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
