Cytogenetecist At the Assistant or Associate Professor Level
The Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center seeks a faculty Cytogenetecist at the assistant or associate professor level. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D./D.O. and should be ABMGG board-certified or board-eligible in clinical cytogenetics and genomics, or in laboratory genetics and genomics (LGG). Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS)-based testing of constitutional and oncology specimens is preferred.
Responsibilities will include coverage in multiple laboratory sections with interpretation and sign-out of karyotype, FISH, and cytogenomic microarrays. There is also an to sign out NGS for disease-specific multi-gene panels and whole exome sequencing, and/or sign out of a variety of molecular assays for both adult and pediatric patients, according to qualifications and interest. Additional responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring LGG and Molecular Genetic Pathology fellows, pathology residents, and medical students, and participation in clinical and/or translational research. The successful candidate will work closely with other section faculty in the administration, oversight, management, and research and development activities of the laboratories. Academic rank and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
