SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Maintenance Mechanic incumbent will troubleshoot and make repairs to complex blow molders, machines, conveyor systems, box makers, stretch wrappers, plant support equipment, and other necessary equipment to ensure efficient and effective operation and manufacturing of a high quality finished product. Incumbent will also be responsible for preventive maintenance, periodic mold changes and ordering necessary parts for maintenance and repair of equipment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook, and as stated in the various safety-related training programs. This includes, but is not limited to, lockout/tagout, electrical code safe practices and confined space entry programs.
Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to the appropriate personnel. Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Uses schematic diagrams to troubleshoot and repair electric, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits/systems.
Complete preventive maintenance on all production equipment in a timely manner according to schedule.
Determine needed parts and/or equipment necessary to complete repairs and preventive maintenance and complete appropriate order requests.
Learn and gain expertise on new equipment and processes.
Organize and maintain maintenance areas and stockroom.
May perform/assist in other related assignments as needed such as mold changes and process.
EDUCATION:
Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates Degree in a related technical field strongly preferred.
Prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred and may be used to substitute for degree
EXPERIENCE:
Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
English or French. Good written and verbal communications skills are required. Incumbent must possess effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency by performance
Electrical Maint.
Hydraulics,Machine Shop,Welding,Electronics, Blow Molding, Air Compressor, PLC.
Must be familiar with hand tools and maintenance practices. Understanding of schematic diagrams required.
Must own or be able to provide general mechanics tools. Must be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment. Incumbent must have the ability to interpret and carry out both simple and complex instructions. Must be able to work 8-12-hour production shift schedule (including weekends and possible night shifts). Incumbent should be willing to demonstrate schedule flexibility for coverage for vacations and other absences.
Required to stand/walk for majority of shift. Will be required to lift/carry up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Must frequently squat, bend, kneel, reach, etc., in order to carry out essential functions of the position.
