Job Description
Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Distribution Center (DC) Controller for its Mexico site. The DC Controller functions as the leading financial planning & accounting professional in the DC and is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of results of the companys assets through balance sheet integrity and ensuring a strong control environment. The DC Controller also serves as the business partner to the Site Manager focusing largely on providing financial and operational leadership and improvements, including identifying and driving cost reductions.
Main Accountabilities:
The DC Controller position is accountable for the Financial & Accounting operations of the site. Responsible for the DCs Balance Sheet reporting (US GAAP), provides periodic operations financial reports (Actuals, Forecast, Budget, KPIs), maintains an adequate system of accounting records, and oversees Internal Controls and site capabilities.
Controllership & Compliance
Accountable for ensuring balance sheet integrity, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and fostering a strong control environment at the site:
- Managing a complete and thorough month end close process;
- Ensuring full compliance of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements;
- Being a strong example of integrity and Doing the Right Thing;
- Noting and appropriately mitigating business risks;
- Proactively seeking and improving any deficiencies; and
- Work directly with Internal and External Audit teams as required.
Inventory Control
Partner with the Inventory Control teams to:
- monitor inventory transactions and processes including scrap, annual physical inventory to ensure proper reporting
- monitor the DCs cycle count performance, identifying related root causes and implementing action plans; and
- reducing excess and obsolete inventory
Business Partnership
Functions as a business partner with the Site Manager to effectively manage and control all facets of the sites efficiency and productivity by:
- Framing financial and operational issues in a complete business case format and positively contributing to the
strategic direction in the DC;
- Leading and/or participating in presentations to DC employees and management; and
- Providing strategic input.
Financial Reporting
Provides operational financial reporting and analysis by:
- Preparing and managing actual, forecast, and budget scenarios throughout the course of the year;
- Analyzing and interpreting DC performance, evaluating variances and assessing the effects on DC results;
- Providing management with the strategic tools and reports to drive business results;
- Serving as project manager on cost reduction initiatives, working cross functionally with operations, supply chain,
and procurement to drive cost reductions;
Costing
Maintain standard costs to ensure accuracy of inventory valuation:
- Lead annual cost standard updates and analyzes variances to standards
- Provide and verify product costs in support of all cost-based pricing contracts and intercompany transfer pricing
Job Requirements:
Accounting/Finance Degree required
SAP and HFM experience a plus
Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications and possess strong background with information technology
US GAAP Experience
Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive Finance/Accounting experience
Travel approximately 10%
