Location: 1700 West Loop South, Suite 1500, Houston, TX 77027 Position Title: Staff Electrical Engineer Job Duties: The Staff Electrical Engineer in the Energy Global Practice focuses on fossil and renewable power generating facilities. Designs include the electrical interconnection to the bulk power grid and all associated power generating facility auxiliary power equipment and systems. Equipment includes 3-phase rotating machines, such as generators and motors, solar panels, large power transformers, generator circuit breakers, inverters, isolated phase bus duct, non-segregated phase bus duct, switchgear, motor control centers, small power transformers, and variable frequency drives. Coordinate project design assignments and design teams. Electrical system modeling including grounding, load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash analysis. Prepare and create construction documents for the installation of new or modifications of existing power generating facility electrical systems including one-line, three-line, wiring, and schematic diagrams. Protective relay setting development, calculation, and coordination studies. Develop equipment specifications, procuring, and factory acceptance testing electrical equipment. Develop scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans. Prepare engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules. Perform Project Management duties on electrical discipline projects. Up to 25% of travel is required. Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus three (3) years of related electrical engineering experience. Must have two (2) years of experience in the following: In 3-phase electrical power, medium voltage, low voltage, lighting, grounding, electrical equipment control, protective relaying and associated systems design and construction administration. Photovoltaic systems including associated NEC requirements and construction practices. Demonstrate progressive design and task management responsibilities. Must have one (1) year of experience in the following: Design scope development, budget preparation and project execution meeting schedule requirements and maintaining established budgets. Photovoltaic facility designs that integrate with one or more of the following: Other renewable or fossil power generating facilities, process facilities, or commercial/industrial facilities. Alternatively, the employer will also accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus two (2) years of related electrical engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree plus three (3) years of described experience. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. Up to 25% of travel is required.
