We are looking for a
Quality Specialist (Supplier Quality)
to join our R&D team in Omaha, Nebraska!

Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Join us for yoga or strength training classes offered at the onsite fitness center! Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state of the art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and pilot plant capabilities.

As the
Quality Specialist
, reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be the liaison between our plants and suppliers within the food safety and quality group. You will review documentation, 3rd party audits, perform risk rankings for supplier categories, and foreign supplier verifications for importing ingredients.

What you'll do in this role:
Gather and study data to understand trends and issues in order to provide input to decisions related to product safety and quality in areas of assigned responsibility.
Assist or supervise others in the organization within assigned technical areas of responsibility.
Provide technical and decision-making support and/or data analysis in managing situations and issues relative to quality and/or food safety.
Collaborate and provide technical support to appropriate functions and employees to assure, food safety and quality of company products.
Gauge and evaluate effectiveness and assure continuous improvements in assigned areas of responsibility.
Designs and implements processes and procedures within assigned technical area(s) of responsibility.
Participates on cross functional teams to assure effective implementation and adherence of QA initiatives and process improvement of our suppliers, under limited supervision.
Performs assigned technical tasks/duties associated with department processes and procedures.
Interfaces/provides technical support to appropriate functions and employees to assure regulatory compliance, food safety and quality of company products.
Interfaces with company facilities to facilitate an ongoing effective relationship with packaging material suppliers.

What you'll need to be successful:
BS in Food, Biological or Chemical Science or related field required.
Minimum of 3 years industry experience required.
Knowledge of food safety, food manufacturing processes, technologies or other relevant area of responsibility.
Sound report writing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Knowledge of government regulatory requirements in food packaging (GFSI, FSMA, FDA, USDA)
Demonstrated strength in setting an example for others.
Troubleshooting, data analysis, and investigative skills required.
Ability to travel up to 40% of the time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible company representative.

Physical requirements of the job:

Ability to sit, walk and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day

Work in and around cramped/confined spaces

Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders

Pushing/pulling various plant materials and/or equipment

Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per work day to include: loud noise, heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and exposure to food tasting and smells including all food allergens

Use of tools, equipment, and machinery

Frequent bending and/or crawling; must be able to move safely and freely around machinery

May travel up to 50% of time

Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible representative including airline travel and/or driving a company or rental vehicle for up to 8 hours if needed in various weather conditions.
