Perform load calculations, size, select equipment and prepare detailed specifications for HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, heat pumps, air-handling units, etc. Size hydronic, steam and air distribution. Make suitable equipment selections based on existing building conditions and desired design parameters. Create construction documents which are reviewed by supervisor that depict complete scope of work and are suitable for filing with the NYC Department of Buildings (NYC DOB). Create requests for proposal (RFPs) which are reviewed by supervisor that convey scope of work to potential bidders and help facilitate the bidding process. In collaboration with supervisor, communicate plans and participate in meetings with contractors and clients, such as management companies, building owners, and building staff. Coordinate meetings throughout the duration of projects to ensure the successful completion of complex projects. Review issues with supervisor. Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as clients, contractors and utility companies to meet project goals and schedules. Review issues with supervisor. Review and revise shop drawings, perform construction administration duties, and support project close out efforts via commissioning and punch list creation activities, which are reviewed by supervisor. Manage NYC Department of Building (DOB) filings with clients, expeditors and contracts and provide status updates to supervisor. Prepare renderings and supporting graphics which are reviewed by supervisor for project presentation and sales efforts. Review new construction design documents, perform building-wide design and ASHRAE 90.1 minimally energy code energy models, complete the Energy Star New Construction application process, which are reviewed by supervisor. Supports management and training of employees in on-site data collection, evaluation of existing mechanical systems; Manages one full time mechanical design engineer I and mentors multiple mechanical design interns. Minimum Requirements: Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering + 5 years of exp. Other Requirements: -Five years of experience developing mechanical and plumbing systems. -Five years of experience evaluating mechanical and plumbing systems installations, reviewing of shop drawings and submittals. -Five years of experience maintaining liaison between clients and contractors, monitoring project costs and schedules to adhere to project budgets and deadlines. -Five years of experience preparing cost estimations for scope of work included for design. -Five years of experience maintaining liaison between clients and contractors, monitoring project costs and schedules to adhere to project budgets and deadlines. -Five years of demonstrable experience with Autodesk AutoCAD. -Must pass AutoCAD/Tabular Analysis Assignments test (test administered by email after initial interview, before the other rounds of interviews).
