Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for various accounting functions such as financial reporting, general ledger analysis, and coordinating the monthly close process.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare standard G/L entries for month-end closing. Prepare additional one-off accounting journal entries related to items such as gain/loss on sale or disposal of asset, deferred revenue, and accruals.
  • Oversee compilation of monthly inventory count. Prepare journal entries for monthly change in inventory.
  • Prepare various analyses related to items such as excess and obsolete inventory, prepaid amortization schedules, and intercompany cross-charges.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation. Ensure that G/L and subledger detail are in agreement.
  • Research appropriate accounting treatment and apply the accounting guidance to our specific scenarios.
  • Prepare preliminary financial statements for management review.
  • Prepare monthly line of credit borrowing base documentation.
  • Complete state sales tax returns in a timely fashion.
  • Review Accounts Receivable on a weekly basis.
  • Manage scrap sales and receivables.
  • Maintain all records in preparation for year-end closing and audits.
  • Review Benefits AP bills monthly.
  • Serve as point person for IT & telecommunications issues. Forward info on problems to outside service providers.
  • Learn A/P and A/R processes. Serve as backup to Accounting Clerk in case of absence.
  • Learn banking and cash management processes. Serve as backup to CFO.
  • Upload positive pay information to bank for check runs and payroll checks. Review banking activity daily and positive pay exceptions daily.
  • Assist with budget preparation along with research of budget variances.
  • Special projects as assigned by management.
  • Undergo comprehensive training on Acumatica. Become point person on user issues. Make suggestions to improve utilization of Acumatica's capabilities

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in accounting required
  • 3-5 years related work experience required
  • CPA, CMA preferred
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Acumatica or a similar accounting software system is a plus

Computer Skills:

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Work Schedule:

This is a full time position, 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am 5:00pm. This position may also work an adjusted schedule as determined necessary. Overtime, weekends, holidays, trainings as required.

Physical Demands:

Office-based environment requires ability to sit for long periods of time operating computer/telephone. Must be able to lift and carry up to 5-10 pounds throughout the day on a regular basis (typical office lifting).

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily indoors and seated in a desk environment and is exposed to fluorescent lighting, background noise, and computer monitors. The passage of employees through the work area is average, and the noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
