Jewish Russian Speaking Community of Toronto is looking for a Community Building Associate who is a natural relationship-builder with a love for Judaism, and who will bring energy and creativity to their work with Jewish life in our community to make Judaism accessible and relevant to the people of all ages and backgrounds, and helping them connect with their fellows.

As a Jewish Community Building Associate, you'll also help us maintain a strong communications strategy so that our members know whats happening in the community and where to find resources promoting Judaism and Jewish life via weekly emails, social media, etc. in a creative way, as our goal is to tell the story of Jewish life in a way that invites people to connect to our community.

Position requirements:

- 3 years of work experience in Jewish congregation
- Strong knowledge base of Jewish content, which ranges from traditional Jewish texts to contemporary Jewish wisdom, culture and unconventional Jewish sources.
- Ability to frame and illuminate contemporary experience through Torah.
- Experience in providing supplemental Jewish education to children.
- Experience in planning, arranging, coordinating community events.
- Experience in planning, arranging, coordinating fundraising events is an asset.
- Proven success in community building and outreach.
- Experience with volunteer management
- Experience in writing content (in English and Hebrew) for social media, websites, newsletters, etc..
- Demonstrated appreciation for the value of interfaith understanding and cooperation.
- Experience guiding emerging adults in faith and moral development.
- Ability to develop and implement creative, visionary programs.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation) and ability to quickly establish and maintain strong rapport with a diversity of people and backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A high level of personal integrity and a proven ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to be a great listener, having an outgoing personality, being comfortable and confident in crowds.
- Proficiency in Hebrew and Russian in addition to English is an asset.
- Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Responsibilities include:

- Build relationships through engagement of religious community members, creating and expanding social networks with involved and previously uninvolved community members.
- Demonstrate facility and comfort with Jewish traditions, holidays, culture, and basic texts and communicate this knowledge to others.
- Serve as a Jewish educational resource for others and use and promote the Rabbi as an essential element in programs.
- Coordinate Jewish holiday and Shabbat programs in partnership with the Rabbi and other responsible members of the congregation.
- Plan and conduct various outreach activities and facilitate religious community involvement.
- Facilitate development and implementation of extra curriculum religious education programs for children and women.
- Assist in administering fundraising programs as well as programs providing food, clothing and shelter.
- Empower members of the congregation to involve other people, otherwise out of the community network and reach, with the life of the community.
- Work with community members to identify what is missing in the current Jewish offerings and fill these gaps by helping create new programs and initiatives.
- Participate in developing programs and events encouraging interfaith dialogue, cultural exchange and social outreach programs.
- Ensure a pluralistic and welcoming atmosphere for all.
- Actively use, create and coordinate content promoting Judaism and Jewish Life in the media, and online social media.

Job type: Full-time (35 hours), permanent
Salary: $20.00 per hour
