Formulation Lead - Lallemand Plant Care

Tasks

The Formulation Lead will conceive and develop novel formulations of the existing active ingredients of the Lallemand Plant Care portfolio or of new strains ranging from bacteria to fungi. Driving the scale-up of formulation concepts in the Production plant and supporting registration of the formulation chemistry will be equally important. Collaborations with the global Lallemand teams as well as with suppliers, external companies and academic institutions will be key to developing the differentiating formulations and delivery systems.

You will be responsible for developing and optimizing formulations to improve the stability, the conditions of use and the agronomic performance of our microbial products. You will also support the registration of newly developed formulations and their implementation in production in the different sites of the Business Unit.

• Conceive formulation recipes (liquids and solids) for living microorganisms with advanced physical/chemical and biological properties as well as having superior agronomical performance
• Optimize water dispersibility (liquids and solids), physical stabilization of particles (liquids) and dust reduction (solids) of the formulations
• Work closely with the QA and Regulatory Affair teams for the registration of newly developed formulations
• Work closely with production facilities for process design, scale-up and troubleshooting
• Lead collaborations to develop cutting-edge formulation concepts
• Present and communicate results to the Team, various stakeholders and the management
• Create intellectual property, write scientific reports and deliver presentations
• Provide technical expertise and specialized knowledge in formulation development of liquid and dry microbial products or of co-adjuvants that increase the performance of microbial products in agriculture;
• Design formulations compatible with organic registration of microbial products;
• Provide input to packaging development to support formulation stability in diverse storage conditions;
• Implement a network with suppliers or academic partners;
• Work with cross-functional teams in a multicultural setting worldwide, in laboratories and production plants.

Requirements

• Master s Degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related disciplines
• Extensive industry experience, 10+ years
• Expertise in formulation development of agricultural and microbial products
• Strong written and oral communication skills in German and English
• Verbal and written communication skills in one or more of the following languages is an asset: French, Portuguese or Spanish Required competencies / Skills(Hard skills)
• Demonstrated capabilities and know-how in the development of formulations of either pharmaceuticals, biologicals or cosmetics
• Understanding of material properties and experience with material analytics including particle size analysis and rheology
• Understanding of Quality Control and related activities Required skills / Attitudes(Soft skills)
