Controller
Position Summary: This role is included in the plant leadership, and initial responsibilities will include project management, establishing internal controls, fixed asset accounting, inventory management, and banking. A high amount of emphasis will be placed on the purchasing processes as well as tagging, receiving, and tracking fixed assets and Construction in Process (CIP). As operations and manufacturing progress this role will evolve into a more formal Plant Controller role with duties and responsibilities listed below.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Track, tag, and maintain schedules to support the general ledger accounts of construction in process and fixed assets.
2. Active involvement in purchasing, receiving, and other procurement related activities.
3. Basic ability to track purchase orders and understand how they can potentially impact the financial statements.
4. Must be able to demonstrate having a strong working knowledge and experience in manufacturing, cost accounting, and managing the accounting for inventory.
5. Basic banking responsibilities include initiating payments, and forecasting cash requirements.
6. Identify trends recommends, and implements improvements accordingly (labor, materials, productivity, efficiencies, etc.) through process optimization.
7. Ability to work closely with the General Manager and other members in plant leadership.
8. Prepare, enter, post and review journal entries with appropriate documentation.
9. Meet monthly and annual closing schedules, and prepare related financial schedules as deemed necessary by plant and company management.
10. Owner of plant costing process and ensures the plant standards accurately reflect the value of the products.
11. Demonstrate a strong knowledge of internal controls.
12. Direct preparation of studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, and business forecasts.
13. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to have a floor presence daily. We anticipate 25% of the time will be spent on the floor, roughly 2 hours a day, and more if required.
14. Excellent bi-lingual communication skills are required, between both plant leadership and corporate accounting.
15. Perform other duties and individual assignments as management may direct.
