JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position has leadership oversight for all aspects of inventory management for Client's Consolidated Service Center (CSC), which stocks approximately 5,000 items. Oversees demand planning, purchasing, and inventory management utilizing Lawson and Warehouse Management systems. Responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, objectives, and metrics to maximize inventory management, while maintaining inventory accuracy. Ensures that the CSC maintains appropriate inventory levels to meet the demands of the client. Manages the inventory team which is inclusive of Inventory Buyers and Inventory Specialists. Reports to the AVP, Consolidated Service Center.

Education: Bachelor's degree in business management, logistics, supply chain management or related field required.

Licenses/Certifications: Lean/Six sigma certification a plus; APICS certification a plus.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in inventory management experience required, preferably in a distribution warehouse environment. Hospital system or medical product experience preferred. Distribution center start up experience highly desired.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of warehouse management systems, inventory buying processes utilizing ERP systems (e.g., Lawson) and demand planning processes for inventory management.
  • Experience with cycle counting management to achieve and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Proven leadership skills, with ability to build, motivate and influence cohesive teams.
  • Customer service focused with demonstrated ability to build relationships, negotiate, influence, collaborate, and create win-win situations with multiple stakeholders across various functions and levels.
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to exercise good judgement in handling difficult situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel, Power Point, and other data mining tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time sensitive projects/processes.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversees, plans, and directs the entire process of demand planning and replenishment inventory for the CSC.
  • Develops and implements business processes and key performance indicators to optimize departmental operations in accordance with overall business objectives.
  • Oversees the daily purchasing, inventory management, WMS item files and inventory system support activities at the CSC.
  • Leads inventory demand planning, scheduling, forecasting, and inventory control operations.
  • Develops and implements inventory tools and systems for tracking, analysis, auditing, and reporting.
  • Utilizes system reports and KPIs to measure inventory performance and system related performance.
  • Minimizes waste, solves problems, develops, and implements new ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Works closely with product manufacturers and vendors to develop and maintain relationships vital to ensuring cost effective, adequate product supply and to resolve product purchasing or inventory shortage issues.
  • Follows up on and resolves any CSC inventory related issues, including back orders, out of stocks, and inventory inaccuracies in WMS location balances.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify and prioritize initiatives to optimize inventory capabilities and develop best inventory management practices.
  • Implements data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies and develop optimization strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Partners with the AVP, CSC in the development and execution of the long-term CSC strategy
  • Fosters an environment where outstanding safety and quality performance is an expectation for all, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Responsible for the daily activities associated with leading the inventory team and maximizing the inventory management systems.
  • Manages, coaches, develops, and promotes staff members to ensure team performance and operational excellence.
  • Builds a highly engaged workforce and promotes diverse and inclusive mindsets.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Client policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
