Science and Impact stand at the heart of our decision-making. We are looking for a full-time intern for our Science/Impact team, who will help us make investment decisions for the next generation of founders that want to have a positive impact not only on the economy but also on the planet. The perfect match is someone who comes from a Science/Engineering background with an incredible sense of curiosity and a relentless passion for entrepreneurship.

This paid internship is full-time and you could work from either our Berlin-Mitte office or remotely from anywhere in Germany. Ideally we are looking for someone who could work alongside us for the next 3 - 6 months.

Tasks

  • Assess the environmental impact of innovative products and services across different sectors and regions as part of the science team;
  • Take part in the screening and exchange with Green Tech startups;
  • Support the calculation of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of products and services; gather data in consultation with start-ups and conduct literature reviews;
  • Support the assessment of the climate/environmental performance of portfolio companies;
  • Help draft the first impact report of Planet A;
  • Prepare research in order to inform new investment hypotheses.

Requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial engineering, Industrial ecology, natural sciences or similar study program and achieved outstanding academic results. A strong technical or engineering background is a plus;
  • Knowledge of LCA or of methods to assess environment impact is an asset but not a must;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • A self-starter, able to work fast and independently, take initiative and see what's up next;
  • A team player with a strong work ethic, humility, a can-do attitude, and a collaborative mindset;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fluent in spoken and written German and English;
  • Experienced in using Google or MS Office applications, esp. Excel/Google Sheets; Aptitude for learning new software;
  • Open-minded, curious, communicative team player with the urge to learn and grow together within flat hierarchies.

The job will bring exposure to pioneering climate/green technologies, startups and founders; as well as working experience in a fast moving highly mission-driven Venture Capital fund.
