Your role and goals

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d) to work with our small but growing Data Science team on creating innovative solutions that help Productsup to continue as the leading Product-to-Consumer management platform. Together, we will work on a variety of interesting use-cases utilizing for example our large collection of millions of product specifications.

In your first 3 months you will:

• build a deep understanding of our product, our business and the data infrastructure
• drive our current projects forward by bringing in your expertise from day one
• collaborate within our data science team
• strategically work on how data can be turned into products

In your first 6 months and beyond you will:

• lead initiatives and feature ownership from development to deployment
• gather context to solve ambiguous problems that lead to long term impact
• design technical architectures about possible solutions
• build scalable data products including informative deep dives, production-quality dashboards

What you bring to the team

Must have:

• 5+ years of experience working at all stages of the Data Science Lifecycle: From understanding business requirements over extracting data from various sources to building state-of-the-art production-ready and scalable machine learning models
• strong experience with Big Data Frameworks and languages such as Scala, Hive, Hadoop
• comfortable writing high-quality code in Python and familiar with frameworks such as Pandas and scikit-learn
• proficiency in SQL and big data principles
• experience with neural networks, in particular deep learning and associated frameworks such as Tensorflow and Keras
• working with heavy textual data is nothing new for you and you have hands-on experience in the area of NLP and Transformer models
• identifying and specifying data needs in order to perform proper modeling is your way of doing things correctly
• research, design and implement descriptive, predictive and inferential data science models and ML techniques are second nature to you
• you enjoy working independently on some projects while also collaborating with other data scientists on a daily basis
• structuring and documenting your research, work and findings to foster an open and transparent work culture is natural and expected for you
• you are open-minded, results-oriented and have the ability to communicate complex data problems and solutions across the company
• strong communication skills and excellent written and spoken English language skills (C1)

Nice to have:

• you know how to work with distributed storage systems and processing frameworks like Apache Spark
• you are experienced in Computer Vision / Image Processing or RNNs
