Job Description

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, participatory manager who will have a successful track record in setting priorities; as well as excellent analytic, organization, and communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CFO with Financial Planning and Analysis including:
    • Monthly accounting close
    • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
    • Manage the annual financial audit process.
    • Annual budget and quarterly re-forecast process.
    • Annual and half-year IFRS reporting.
    • Formalize the analysis and review of GL accounts.
    • Ensure compliance with INSPECS financial policies.
    • Develop metrics to review Gross Margin performance
  • Evaluate current internal controls and recommend revisions as required
  • Review frame cycle counts and evaluate results.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices.
  • Ensure state and federal tax payments are paid on time
  • Ensure compliance with all state sales and use taxes
  • Run inventory valuations monthly and update inventory to GL reconciliation
  • Attend work related meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of MS office
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter and ability to handle pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various levels, departments and leaders

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, accounting, or finance
  • CPA license required
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a mid to senior level finance or accounting position

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Assigns work
  • Provides regular, timely and constructive performance feedback and completes annual/bi-annual evaluations
  • Handles confidential information
  • Handles performance discussions, progressive discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform manual tasks, concentrate, think, learn, communicate, sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with arms, talk and hear. The employee may frequently be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull. The employee may occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily indoors and seated in a desk environment and is exposed to fluorescent lighting, background noise, and computer monitors. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal and the noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Work Schedule:

Fulltime position, 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime, Weekends, Holidays, and Trainings as required.
