Job Description

Hi there!

As part of our Data Center Operations team you will be managing our private cloud here at Data4Life. The DC-Ops Team is responsible for a variety of topics from hardware level to providing the cloud to our SREs to automate projects. Being a health tech company, security is our top priority and the same is visible in our setup. As our new OpenStack Cloud Engineer, you will mainly be working on maintaining the Cloud. Along with it, you will be part of other infrastructure-related projects, plus some involvement with SREs.

Your future role

  • You will design Data4Life's on-premise, multi-datacenter infrastructure with a focus on security, compliance, resilience, and performance.
  • You'll carry out the deployment and configuration of OpenStack and Ceph.
  • The Hana Database will be managed with your support.
  • You will troubleshoot core networking (L2/L3) and OpenStack.
  • You will upgrade OpenStack components.
  • You'll provide support for internal learning/training. You'll mentor the Datacenter Operations and SRE teams with a focus on OpenStack.
  • The VMware infrastructure will be managed by you.

What you need to succeed

  • You have significant experience working on Unix/Linux environments.
  • You have a detailed understanding of the OpenStack project ecosystem and open source hypervisor technologies.
  • Experience setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting OpenStack and Ceph deployments at scale on L3 networks.
  • You're a certified OpenStack Administrator.
  • You should have experience working with OpenStack services like Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift, Glance, RabbitMQ, ect.
  • You know your way around logging, monitoring, and debugging OpenStack services and its deployment operations.
  • You know your war around core networking and dynamic routing (BGP, VXLAN, EVPN, Firewalls, WAF).
  • You have experience with Linux Operating System management and virtualisation (KVM, VMware, Docker).
  • You can do hardware management and provisioning (MAAS, Netbox).
  • You're familiar with automation and orchestration tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
  • You're familiar with security on network and OS levels.
  • You have experience with VMware administration.
