Our client is an inclusive school in Lekki, Lagos for boys and girls aged 1-12years. They pride themselves on not being the run of the mill typical nursery and primary. They offer an uninterrupted learning experience coupled with an engaging curriculum.
Seeking to hire a trustworthy candidate in the capacity of an Accountant who will ensure the provision of high-quality financial accounting service that supports efficient management of the company. The Accountant is required to assist the Director who heads both the schools.
Responsibilities
Ensures all financial transactions are done in accordance with admin/ financial operating procedures of the school.
Generates all student invoices - raises and sends out bills at the end of term to parents for the next term or as the need arises.
The preparation of monthly management accounts.
The preparation of annual statutory accounts, including liaison with the school s auditors.
The preparation of the termly school budget, and longer-term financial plans.
The preparation and assessment of capital expenditure plans.
Works with the Bursar/Director on ad hoc projects.
Treasury management consistent with policies established by the organization Finance and Investment Committee.
Compiling and monitoring VAT returns.
Completion, verification of bank reconciliation and preparation and management of Pension accounts.
Line management of three staff, to ensure that day-to-day purchasing, billing, student fees, battels and banking routines are followed and improved over time.
Access and obtain bank statements daily and make available to team members for operational duties.
Engages in any other financial assignment assigned by the Director as the need arises or any other duty related to the nature of the post.
Requirements
A minimum of a university degree (or its equivalent), preferably in a business, statistics
or mathematics major.
Membership of a relevant professional organisation or at least at final stage of a
recognised professional accounting program i.e. ICAN, ACCA
At least seven (7) years experience working in a similar role.
