FYTA is on a mission to change the way we connect to plants. We create cool and intuitive products for a new generation of indoor gardeners and push the boundaries of what indoor gardening means today. We are devoted to creating new experiences in indoor gardening including everything from house plants to mushrooms and microorganisms. In our work, we unify interdisciplinary backgrounds such as software and hardware engineering, plant science, data science, design, business, and sustainability to achieve this goal with a diverse team of people.

We are launching our first product the FYTA Beam, the world's firsts AI-driven IoT smart plant sensor - in early 2022. Our product portfolio will be expanded into an IoT and E-commerce ecosystem covering all user touchpoints from plant to App.

We are looking for an experienced Android developer with to join our product development team. In this role, you will work on advancing our Android App and other frontend applications that support our IoT sensing solutions. You will be supported by our amazing team of product designers, developers and data- and plant scientists.

Tasks

You will have a direct impact on FYTA core products by designing and building mobile Apps and web-based frontend solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing scalable, reliable cutting-edge mobile (Android) and web applications for our IoT eco-system
• Supporting application deployment and building continues deployment solution
• Writing clean code and enforce quality through test-driven development and evaluations
• Collaborate effectively in a cross-functional agile team that delivers solutions for a great customer experience
• Taking ownership and sharing your ideas & knowledge with the team
• Taking care of documentation
• Translate business requirements in a robust, performant and secure technical solution

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science or comparable education
• Several years of experience as a mobile developer, experience with building applications for connected devices would be a plus
• Expert understanding of common software engineering practices (git, unit testing, code documentation, continuous integration, dependency management)
• Good understanding of secure coding practices and working with RESTful API
• Expert knowledge of the Android SDK (Android Components, lifecycles, Layouts, Fragments, custom Animations & Drawables, SQLite) and the new Gradle-based Android build system, Kotlin and Java principles, unit testing (JUnit)
• Experience with firebase and google analytics
• Nice to have: experience in building web-based applications and flutter
• Affinity for product design and building appealing user interfaces
• You are curious, analytically minded and have structured work habits
• You like to take responsibility and initiative
• You work comfortable in a rapid prototyping environment with minimum guidance
• Get-things-done mindset: You are flexible and understand that working in the start-up means that you need to think and act like an entrepreneur, and pro-actively collaborate in an agile work environment with other team members
• Fluent in English
