System Design Engineer (space sector)

• Gathering requirements, documenting, and prioritizing them.
  
• Participating in the verification and validation of the requirements (tests writing and execution).
  
• Design of software and hardware systems for a global network of robotic telescopes.
  
• Creating software and hardware diagrams.
  
• Work on the usability (UX, PnP), reliability, availability, safety and security of the created software and hardware by making and communicating clearly design decisions, concepts.
  
• Train and coach engineers, managers, operators in design principles.
  
• Harmonize company designs and participate in the European and world standardisation process for Space Traffic Management.
  
• Monitor and support implementation, operation of the systems by gathering the feedback on the design implementation.
  
• Prepare and monitor cost forecasts for major design changes and new technologies introduction.
  

Requirements

• 2 years experience in a system design role in software systems involving mechanical or electronic components.
  
• 2 years experience in C# .NET programming.
  
• Long term planning capability with understanding of current and future technological capabilities, trends.
  
• Capability to create clear designs and providing necessary justification for them, defending and performing trade-off design discussions.
  
• Good understanding of mechanical designs and electrical, electronic designs.
  
• Good theoretical and practical knowledge of design patterns.
  
• Proven ability to make and implement design decisions.
  
• Analytical competences.
  
• Experience in reading and creating CAD drawings.
  
• Experience in requirements elicitation, management, documentation, testability.
  
• Very good experience with Microsoft s technological stack (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  
• Proven track record in documenting designs, processes, creating new ones.
  
• Personal security clearance or willingness to participate in obtaining it.
  
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  

• 2+ years of experience in preparing system designs and technical documentation for ESA or EU projects
  
• Experience in design according to space systems engineering (ground segment) standards and recommendations (ECSS, NASA, ISO).
  
• Familiarity with astronomical software and hardware optical system design.
  
• Familiarity with Space Safety / Space Traffic Management / Space Situational Awareness.
  
• Passion for space.
  
• Experience with IT architecture.
  
• Experience at early-stage companies and/or with new markets.
  
• Familiarity with hardware-software systems working in global and/or remote environments.
  
• Familiarity with the distributed software-hardware systems.
  
• Familiarity with the optical observations of the night sky.
  
• Fluent Polish in writing and speech.
