Our client is one of the foremost educational providers in Nigeria. The legacy of their group of schools has been built on a distinct ethos and culture that has engendered high levels of student achievement, staff dedication, and stakeholder partnership.

Our client is currently looking for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO)with oversight for all school sites and who will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of SEND provision and provision for students with additional educational needs. The successful candidate
will be required to raise educational achievement by leading and coordinating provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities. The SENDCO will be an exemplary practitioner with a remit to ensure that children with SEND are taught effectively throughout the group.

The SENDCO will also need to ensure that the schools within the group uphold their duties according to the Code of Practice. The SENDCO will coordinate, monitor, and develop provision for students with SEND according to international guidelines, the SEND policy and group procedures. The
SENDCO will be an excellent communicator, who can maintain very effective communication systems with teaching and support staff and work together to raise the standards of attainment and achievement group wide.

Requirements

  • A strong commitment to raising educational attainment for children and young people withSEND, including working with students directly and supporting other staff to do so.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills - to influence the group strategy and policy, secure sufficient internal resources, and secure the necessary support from external agencies.
  • Leadership skills - to inspire and motivate other teachers, model good practice, and develop a whole school commitment to supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Qualified teacher with 7 years post-qualification experience is essential; with at least 3 years operating at a leadership/management level within a school setting.
  • At least 5 years experience of teaching and supporting students with SEND.
  • Experience working with or within other organisations that support SEND pupils may also count e.g. working as a therapist, educational psychologist or with a health/social care provider.
  • Bachelors Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or a discipline relevant to the role.
  • Experience in different settings and with pupils of different ages may be beneficial as the role cuts across EYFS, Primary and Secondary provisions.
  • The possession of a Masters in Special Education or Psychology will be an added advantage; so will further professional certification in the area of Special Educational Needs.

Benefits

Salary & Benefits: Salary between N250,000 - N400,000 monthly gross (point on the scale and other benefits determined by skills and experience). Benefits include Health Insurance, Contributory Pension Scheme, and Discounted Tuition for Staff Children.
