Asset Management - Auxiliary Services Maintenance (D4)

The position is responsible for managing the Auxiliary Services maintenance functions to achieve optimal fixed plant and equipment availability thereby meeting production targets safely and efficiently. The position also carries legal responsibility in terms of the South African Mine Health and Safety Act as per regulation 2.13.3.2 read with section 7 (4).

Key responsibilities will include:
Managing the total maintenance function for the Auxiliary Services to achieve required plant and equipment availability and reliability to enable operations to achieve production targets safely and efficiently.
Carrying legal responsibility in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and related Regulations.
Development and implementation of the 5-year business plan for the maintenance departments with the objective of maximizing shareholder value.
Ensuring customer satisfaction, competitiveness, reductionThe position is responsible for managing the Auxiliary Services maintenance functions to achieve optimal fixed plant and equipment availability thereby meeting production targets safely and efficiently. Identifying capital projects that will help achieve the strategic objective set out for the department.
Ensuring continuous improvement initiatives are driven throughout the department. This is to ensure cost reduction, margin improvement, productivity or efficiency improvements and improved safety standards.
Ensuring that the department develop an interdependent culture of safety; ensuring that work complies with existing safety legislation and is in full compliance with standards.
Generating maintenance best practice systems and processes in order to create an efficient and effective Maintenance Department.
Ensuring that the plant maintenance standards are tracked against global benchmark performance of similar operations and to make sure that emerging gaps are bridged in order to remain competitive in the long term.
Creating a clear and robust development and succession planning process that inspires and builds top talent within the business.

Requirements

BSc/BTech degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
A postgraduate degree in Engineering or Business Administration would advantageous.
At least 5 years experience at Section Engineer level in a maintenance environment within the mining industry.
Fixed plant and mobile maintenance backgrounds.
Government Certificate of Competency, Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) for Mines.
Knowledge of fixed plant and mobile machinery maintenance and systems in mining industry.
Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Registration with DMRE as a Mentor for Engineers in Training.
Affiliation with Association of Mine Resident Engineers (AMRE).
