The below job opportunity is with one of our Biotech clients who researches develop and commercializes drugs. The company focuses primarily on antiviral drugs used in the treatment of HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and influenza, including Harvoni and Sovaldi.

Position: QC Specialist Quality Control, Cell Culture Ops

Location: Santa Monica CA 90404

Duration: 6 Months

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a QC Specialist Quality Control, Cell Culture to support Cell Culture Ops at Santa Monica, California.

  • The QC Specialist will be part of the Commercial QC Cell Culture Ops team and will have the overall responsibility for execution of cell culture operations, planning, coordination, and operational activities in the QC laboratory.

  • In this role you will provide daily help in cell culture, analytical testing and sample management in support of fast paced commercial manufacturing of cell lines used as a method reference in testing of raw material, final drug product and stability testing of Cell Therapy products.

  • You will also be responsible for upkeep and maintenance of QC instrumentation and lab in GMP compliance.

Responsibilities for the QC Specialist, Quality Control, Cell Culture Ops include:

  • Understand and execute protocols related to media and buffer preparation, cell culture and cell banking and other activities as needed.

  • Perform hands on lab work to execute studies across multiple unit operations

  • Participates in decision -making processes within the project team by actively engaging in scientific and technical discussions

  • Enter and analyzes data to support project leads in preparation of presentation, data graphs and reports

  • Manages samples and inventory related to each experiment

  • Write and review technical and summary reports

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree Biochemical Engineering, Biology, Biotechnology and 0 years' experience OR

  • Bachelor's Degree Biochemical Engineering, Biology, Biotechnology and 2 years' experience in analytical and/or operations and/or quality OR

  • High School Degree and 4 years' experience in analytical and/or operations and/or quality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of cell culture or cell therapy manufacturing experience

  • Cell culture experience at different scales using adherent and/or suspension platforms including flasks and culture bags

  • Experience in various analytical techniques: Flow cytometry, ELISAs, PCR, cell-based assay, and other applicable methods

  • Ability to work and collaborate in cross functional teams, research, development, manufacturing in a fast pace dynamic team setting

  • Ability to think critically, analytically and have demonstrated troubleshooting and problem- solving skills based on deductive reasoning

  • Versed and experienced in bioanalytical methods and experience in working in a Quality Control laboratory under GMP compliance

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced commercial environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Fluent with Microsoft Office application, statically analysis tools and data management tools

  • The ability to accommodate occasional weekend work

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
