We have partnered with an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company in the Houston, TX area to provide them with a Research Engineer.

Our client is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Research Engineer with experience in drill bit development and drilling dynamics. The Research engineer is primarily responsible for performing research in drilling mechanics and dynamics, leading in-house PDC bit development and computational dynamic applications development

Responsibilities of Research Engineer:

  • Lead in-house PDC bit development and drilling string dynamics software development efforts by working closely with internal teams and external contractors
  • Provides software development recommendations, technical specifications, and feedbacks from end user perspective
  • Collects and analyzes down-hole product performances and specifications to support models and algorithms development
  • Develops strong relationships and maintains regular contact with supporting teams off-site.
  • Prepares and communicates project status to customer and management
  • Handles special projects as assigned.
  • Conducts all business activities in agreement with the company core values

Requirements of the Research Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Oil and Gas industry
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States of America
  • Comprehensive understanding of drilling mechanics and dynamics
  • Extensive knowledge of performances, specifications, and applications of various down-hole tools including drill bits
  • Hands-on experience in programming and engineering software development
  • Knowledge of image processing and artificial intelligence is a plus
  • Proven ability to deliver on time, on target, with quality and sustainability.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication
  • This position may require international and domestic travel. Travel between all client location and testing facilities is required.
