Job Description:

Our optics business leverages ZYGO's expertise in optical design and assembly and high-volume manufacturing of precision optical components and systems for aerospace, defense, medical and industrial applications.
ZYGO seeks a highly talented, hands-on team player with strong mechanical and electronic skills to support Zygo's Mechatronics team.
The ideal candidate will: have experience with mechanical and electronic/electrical systems, understand and read mechanical drawings and schematics, ability to follow directions and learn new skills, as well as contribute to the mechatronics team success.
These activities will facilitate extreme precision manufacturing within an engineering-controlled environment.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist mechanical engineers fit checking and reporting errors/changes to fabricated parts, kitting parts for assembly, putting together assemblies, etc.
Assist mechatronic engineers running wires, terminating cables, soldering, wiring equipment, troubleshooting, etc.
Maintain inventory of electrical and mechanical consumables
Support manufacturing and development efforts as part of a multidisciplinary team
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and/or electrical schematics
Knowledge and experience using hand tools (including calipers and torque wrenches)
Detail oriented and organized - many assemblies are complex and have numerous parts
Knowledge of mechanical concepts - screw sizes, thread types, thread engagement, press-fitting, galling, plumbing fittings, etc.
Knowledge of electronic concepts & tools AC, DC, grounding, Analog/Digital IO, multi-meter, wire crimping, oscilloscope, etc.
Excellent communication and teamwork
Principle centered and a team player
Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), stooping, and keyboarding.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a cleanroom environment
Experience and/or basic knowledge of Solidworks
Experience with Soldering
Self-starter and ability to work independently.
Willingness to ask questions
Desire to learn
