- Chemistry is the branch of science focused on performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of the composition properties and activity of organic or inorganic compounds and biologics including:
- Determining chemical and physical properties during chemical syntheses fermentation or other chemical processes Identifying the relationships between molecular structure and physical or biological properties to aid in analysis of compounds and molecules
- LEVEL: Performs routine entry level assignments. Typically requires a college or university degree or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories principles and concepts
- Develops competence by performing structured work assignments
- Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems
- Receives instruction guidance and direction from others
The associate level is an entry level professional.
JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:
The Junior Lab Technician supports the Application team by performing routine manual paint application testing preparing test panels and substrates maintaining equipment and accurately documenting test results. This role works under supervision while developing technical skills in application methods and laboratory practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Apply and evaluate the application boards applied manually and generate reports.
- Follow Standard Application Procedures using the application tools to record and report out the results.
- Clean and maintain test equipment.
- Prepare application substrates which will be used for all application requests.
- Maintain effective communications with supervisor in identifying problems affecting application operations.
- Provide project support and assistance to the various departments as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Educational attainment is equivalent to bachelors degree in science (Chemistry) Paint Technology or a related field
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:
Knowledge of the principles of math and chemistry
Knowledge of application tools & properties under basic testing conditions.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and applications
Ability to set up and operate application testing equipment brush roller spray machines glossmeter spectrophotometer and solid and viscosity testing equipment.
Ability to perform applications and complete test records and reports.
Ability to communicate effectively read specifications and follow oral or written instructions.
