Tech Writer

Develop write and support end-user documentation that includes high-level technical content reference material and detailed task-specific work instructions

Write end-user documentation for a multi-disciplined and multi-cultural audience including process control operators control systems maintenance and design engineers configuration engineers and others

Work in DITA CMS to write new documentation and maintain existing documentation.

Assist in planning scheduling and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables

Maintain a library of application documentation cataloging it for internal and/or external use

Follow the standard processes outlined by Emerson for writing style format and content

Explore complex technical products and provide technically accurate and audience-focused documents for new and existing functionality in software and hardware

Be responsible for driving the review and approval of technical content within the document management system

Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant experience or a masters degree and 3 year of relevant experience

Exceptional English writing and verbal communication skills and experience in writing technical documents

Ability to develop product understanding by working closely with product developers in an Agile development environment

Ability to design and organize document structure

Interest in hands-on installation configuration and use of the software to further develop product understanding

Understanding of accepted technical writing style conventions

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects and monitor their progress with minimal supervision

Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Strong research skills

Experience with modular documentation (for example DITA XML) and DITA component content management systems

Experience working with large Microsoft Word documents and Adobe Suits.

Desire to seek continuous improvements and innovation

Experience in using Microsoft Excel PowerPoint

Demonstrated internships in technical writing/information development
